So ...Li-mei and Sasuke were really close friends when they were young before Naruto and Sakura came in the picture..
soon after the massacre happens Li-mei believes Sasuke to be dead and Sasuke because of the truama due his clan being murdered and his hatred of his brother was so strong he slowly but surely forgets li-mei and also he never saw her again the massacre ... But~! It is revealed he had one last memory of Li-mei...before he completely forgets her...

Um ok so yeah li-mei was in the forest waiting for sasuke to show up but he didn't she
had a feeling something was wrong and she went to his clan's village where she originally followed him and Itachi back to their house , but when she got there was so much blood and bodies everywhere she was teriffied she hadn't seen so much blood... but still she swallowed her fear and looked for sasuke after searching she couldn't find him only more dead bodies so she finally arrived to his house thinking maybe he hid somewhere but what she saw next was mortifying his parents were slaughtered and still sasuke and was no where to be found not even his brother, she shed a tear and ran outta there as fast as she could, believing sasuke and  to be dead, it truamatizes her as well... It made her somewhat mute and emotionless and loner
she never got close to anyone again after what happen it pained her and she'd have nightmares everytime about it....
